Unleashing Your Narrative:
A Post-Photoshoot Guide for Branding Success
APRÈS SHOOT
As a personal branding photographer, I understand the power of an image. I have been fortunate enough to channel this understanding into my work, encapsulating the unique narratives of countless individuals across Vienna and destinations as diverse as Colombia, Mexico, China, Hong Kong, and across Europe. My distinct style embraces authenticity and luxury, minimalist aesthetics with a flair for storytelling.
Once the shutter clicks and the excitement of the photoshoot subsides, clients often find themselves wondering how to maximize the impact of these images. Here is a guide for those looking to weave their visual stories effectively into the tapestry of their brand after the photoshoot, or as I like to call it, 'Après Shoot.'
DOWNLOADING YOUR IMAGES: THE HOW-TO
After our photoshoot, you'll have the option to download your images from a designated platform. Ideally, there are two options: web-sized images and high-resolution images. Here's how and when to use each:
Web-Sized Images: These are optimized for online use, with smaller file sizes that load quickly and look sharp on all digital platforms. Use these versions for your website, blog posts, social media platforms, email signatures, and online portfolios.
High-Resolution Images: These are large files that preserve all the detail and quality of the original shot. They're perfect for printing, whether it's for marketing collateral, such as brochures, banners, or business cards, or even for personal keepsakes. Always keep a backup of these; they're your master files.
CRAFTING YOUR VISUAL NARRATIVE
The purpose of personal branding photography goes beyond merely capturing good-looking shots. Your images should narrate your brand story, reflect your values, and resonate with your target audience. Therefore, it's crucial to deploy these images strategically across all your professional and personal platforms to maintain a consistent brand identity.
Professional Platforms: Make a Statement
Your LinkedIn and/or Instagram profiles are your professional storefront; make sure they reflect your brand story. Update your profile pictures with the best shot from your photoshoot.
Don't forget other professional platforms, such as industry directories or guest blog author boxes.
Below you can see how I use my profile picture: you can see my face very clearly (keep in mind how small these avatars are!), but also a bit of my blazer, which is perfectly matching one of my brand colors.
Social Media: Adapt and Engage
Every social media platform has a unique character. Instagram thrives on visuals, so it's perfect for sharing behind-the-scenes shots or elements of your personal life. Facebook allows more text - couple your images with engaging captions or anecdotes. Twitter, the realm of thought-leadership, is ideal for pairing your images with inspirational quotes or industry insights.
PRESS RELEASES AND MARKETING MATERIALS: HIGH-RESOLUTION IMPACT
If you're a business owner or public figure, your new images should be used in any printed or digital marketing materials. Providing these images for press releases or feature articles ensures you're portrayed professionally and consistently.
Pro tip: ask your photographer in advance, how they want to be credited by the media, as professional media outlet always ask for this before publishing
EMAILS AND NEWSLETTERS: A PERSONAL TOUCH
Add a touch of personality and professionalism to your emails by using your images in your email signature. Newsletters are an excellent avenue to share your professional journey, and the story can be better told with captivating images.
The success of personal branding photoshoots lies not only in the capture but also in how effectively these images are used post-shoot. Therefore, 'Après Shoot' is as critical as the photoshoot itself. Navigate this journey carefully and make each image count, showcasing your story to the world.
LAST BUT NOT LEAST
Hopefully, you love your new images and are excited to share them with the world! Keep in mind to tag your photographer online, as that simple gesture doesn’t only help their business flourish, but if they decide to share (and they probably will!), that will also bring you more exposure! Talk about a win-win situation!
